Do you struggle with trusting God? When life is scary, difficult, or painful, can you say, “I will trust God even in this”?
It’s hard. It’s scary. In times of trial and uncertainty, it is tempting to rely on people we can see, money we can hold, things of this world which we can feel in our hands. But the things of this world are imperfect, vulnerable, and temporary. People, even those we love, are broken and sinful by nature and can’t always protect us.
Only God is perfect. He is forever strong, forever loving, forever protecting.
Caught outside in a sudden storm, we run for cover. We search for a safe, strong “fortress” to find shelter. And the more dangerous the storm, the stronger our protection must be. Alone and unprotected, even a small storm has the potential to destroy.
Thankfully, though, God is always with you! There is nothing in this world that can penetrate the protection and shelter of God. Nothing!
God is our fortress, our stronghold, our shelter. He is stronger and mightier than anything He will ever allow us to face. He will protect us through every storm, and He blesses us further when we choose to trust Him.
The Blessings of Trusting God…
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. (Isaiah 26:3)
He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. Psalm 112:7
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out it’s roots to the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and it’s not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken. Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. (Psalm 62:1-2, 5-8)
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
· Direction and Guidance
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Trusting God frees you from doubt, worry, and fear. Trusting God strengthens you with courage and His help. Trusting God blesses you with peace and rest.
So how do you begin to trust God? When life is at its hardest, how do you trust?
Believe God. Believe His Word. Believe His promises…Believe Him!
…Jesus said…“Do not fear, only believe.” (Mark 5:36)
Our trust in God is only as strong as our belief in God, our faith in Him. Do you believe He loves you? He does! With a fierce, jealous, holy love that will hold you through any storm.
Don’t wait until the storm is raging to seek protection. Decide right now that you will trust Him. Know to the core of your being, God is trustworthy, and, no matter what the world says, does, or tries to do, you can say with confidence, “I believe God. I trust God. I will always trust God!”
The storms will come. God is already with you. He will never leave you, never abandon you, and never stop loving you. Trust Him!
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me? (Psalm 56:3-4)
Lord, I believe, help my unbelief. (Mark 9:24). Help me never forget You are always with me, always protecting me, always fighting for me. Deepen my faith and trust in You so that when trials come, I will have the strength to stand firm and rest securely in You. Forgive me for relying on things of this world when I know my true security is found in You. I surrender my fears and doubts, and choose right now to trust You. In the beautiful name of Jesus, Amen!
I pray you are blessed abundantly with the fullness of Jesus and find peace and strength at His feet!
