Why Should We Seek God First
I’ll never forget the hardest season of my life. It brought me to my knees like never before, forcing me to cling to God for everything. While I hated the pain I endured, I am deeply grateful for how it drove me into God’s arms. That suffering brought me closer to Him in ways I never imagined.
Why should we put God first? Because in Him, we find the peace, joy, healing, and comfort we can’t find anywhere else. Without Him, we have no power—but through Jesus, we stand, strengthened and assured.
When we seek God first, He provides for every need, gives us the strength to face any trial, and reminds us that He will never leave us or forsake us. He is faithful, constant, and everything we need. Let’s explore what it means to seek Him first and why it transforms our lives.

What Does The Bible Say About Seeking God First
The Bible is very clear that we are to seek God first in all things. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
This means that our first priority should be seeking God and His righteousness, and not our own personal desires. When we seek God first, He promises to take care of the rest.
This doesn’t mean that we will never have any problems or that everything will always go our way, but it does mean that God will be with us and will help us through whatever we may face.
I don’t know about you, but I definitely need God’s guidance over my life! Life is hard.
Let’s take a look at 30 Bible Verses about seeking God first.
Bible Verse For Seeking God For Directions
If you’re ever feeling lost or uncertain of which way to go, turn to the Bible for guidance.
There are many verses that can provide comfort and direction when you’re feeling lost, but one of our favorites is Psalm 25:4-5. “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”
These verses remind us that God is always with us, even when we feel lost, and that He will guide us if we seek Him out. So if you’re feeling lost, don’t hesitate to seek God’s guidance through His Word.
Bible Characters Who Put God First
There are many women in the Bible who put God first in their lives, but three stand out in particular: Sarah, Ruth, and Esther.
Sarah was the wife of Abraham, the father of the Jewish people. She was a faithful woman who followed Abraham even when he was called by God to leave her home and go to a strange land. She trusted God even when He promised her a son in her old age, and she was rewarded with the birth of Isaac.
Ruth was a Moabite woman who married into a Jewish family. When her husband and sons died, she could have returned to her own people, but she chose to stay with her mother-in-law, Naomi. Ruth showed her faithfulness to God by following Naomi to the land of Israel and becoming a part of the Jewish people. She is an ancestor of King David and an important figure in the history of the Jewish people.

Esther was a Jewish woman who was married to the Persian king Ahasuerus. When her people were threatened with extermination, she fasted and prayed and she risked her life to go before the king and plead for their lives. With God’s help, she was successful in saving her people, and she is remembered as a heroine of the Jewish people.
All three of these women were faithful to God, even in difficult circumstances. They put Him first in their lives, and He blessed them for it.
