Mommy Needs Rest: Making God a Priority
Making God a Priority
The day has slipped by once again. I find myself in bed about to go to sleep. Exhausted. And not once did I crack open my bible.
Our whole purpose in life is to live for the glory of God!
We are excited about this.
We go out and do our best for God in our career, ministry, home, marriage and children.
We rush around getting things done that are pressing us immediately and the list can be long and seems never ending.
We try to get in time with God on a daily basis to keep that peace, strength and relationship with God where it should be.
However, at some point we get run down, worn out, exhausted, and in need of rest.
Things in our little world may seem to be going well and we let down our guard by not spending time with God as we should.
Then BAM – life hits.
Knocks us sideways. We find ourselves weak and unfocused.

Who has been at this place? ME! *I’m raising my hand.* I’ve been here. I’m trying to realize I need rest. This momma needs to rest in God!
I have to make that God time a priority. I must rest in God and I strongly encourage you to make that time as well.
Let’s not allow our time with God become an option, because we all know that life can get busy real quick and our time and energy runs out.
Let’s not live on yesterdays blessing. Let’s not live on yesterdays prayer and bible time.
We wouldn’t go with out eating and drinking, right? We need nourishment to keep our bodies healthy. We need nourishment from food and water for energy to get through every day.
Let’s think of our time with God as our spiritual fuel.
Let’s spend that spiritual nourishing time with our Lord. He will strengthen us, renew us and give us rest each day we spend time with Him. He loves spending that time with us.
He is our refuge, peace and strength. He enjoys us. He loves us. He created us.
Let’s remember
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I’m tired. I’m physically worn out. I’m overwhelmed with life right now and find myself unfocused. I miss you, Lord. I miss our time. I miss Your peace and strength. I need the renewing I get when I rest in You. Help me to rest. To rest in You. Press into me a deep desire to spend time with You. As I spend that time with You; renew my mind, give me strength and open my eyes to see what you want me to see. Guide me to budget my time wisely, not over commit and keep You a priority. Help me to not live by my emotions but to live by the truth of Your Word! Help me to trust in You. Thank you, Lord, for being my refuge. I praise You because You are worthy! In Your name I pray. Amen.
Blessings,
Starla
