Growing up mint chocolate chip ice cream, the green one, was my favorite ice cream! Now as an adult I still love it. Plus, I’m a huge coffee lover and drink way more than I probably should. Jesus and coffee should be my life hashtag.
So this drink combines some of my favorite flavors into an amazing iced coffee drink! The Chocolate Mint Dalgona Coffee is so good and easy to make. During my morning bible reading time I have really enjoyed changing up my coffee recipes and this is definitely a keeper. Check out my recipe for Chocolate Mint Dalgona Coffee below.
What is Dalgona Coffee
It’s a simple coffee really! The main ingredients are instant coffee, water, sugar, and milk. You beat those ingredients together till it forms soft peaks. That’s it!
“The drink itself has origins from India, Pakistan, and Macau, where it is also known as whipped coffee or beaten coffee. But its surge in popularity happened when it appeared on a Korean TV show called Pyunstorang in January. In it, actor Jung Il-Woo traveled to Macau, tried the drink, and gave it the nickname dalgona for its resemblance to the traditional Korean sponge candy of the same name. It’s since caught the eye of TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram users the world over, and—perhaps with almost everybody at home now—it’s gone especially viral these past few days. The best part is, it’s relatively easy to whip up in your own kitchen.” – Spot.ph
How Long Does Chocolate Mint Dalgona Coffee Last
It will last for hours. The Chocolate Mint Dalgona Coffee that I make lasts a while and I was surprised how long it kept its soft peaks. This isn’t a drink to make and serve the next day, however, it will last you a few hours. Or at least mine did.
Can You Use Regular Coffee For Chocolate Mint Dalgona Coffee?
I’ve seen this asked before. I’ve not personally tried using regular coffee in my Dalgona Coffee recipes but RitzyMom says this:
“Yes, however, it’s going to take more work. First, you’ll need a strong coffee to get that flavor punch that instant coffee grounds provide. You will need to brew a shot of this coffee and strain it through a coffee filter or cheesecloth or you will be eating coffee grounds! Then you do have to use 1/4 tsp of meringue powder or it won’t get cloud-like, foamy, and whipped. Also, please be aware it won’t be exactly the same taste as using instant coffee!” RitzyMom
Is Dalgona Coffee Good
Oh my yes, especially my Chocolate Mint Dalgona Coffee! It is so good and it’s fun to try different flavor combinations like this Chocolate Mint Dalgona Coffee twist!
Dalgona coffee is sweet, but also the coffee flavor is still present in a nice subtle way. Dalgona Coffee tastes a bit like coffee ice cream, while the texture was very soft and light, like whipped cream that’s just begun to melt into a mug of hot chocolate.
