30 Awesome New Year Bible Verses

Use this list of New Year’s Bible Verses any time you need to focus on a new start.

The start of a new year is one of the hardest times of year. You have goals you want to achieve and promises you want to keep.

But it’s easy to lose sight of those goals and you find yourself getting lost in everyday life that you forget what matters most.

When you start the year off on the right foot, you set yourself for greater success throughout the entire year. This can be the best time of year if you make it so.

These New Year Bible verses (below) are a great way to stay focused on your goals and to keep you on the right path towards your relationship with God.

What Is The Biblical Meaning Of New Beginnings

In the Bible, a new beginning is often associated with rebirth or renewal. This can be seen in passages like Isaiah 43:19, where God says, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” (NIV).

In the New Testament, Jesus often speaks of new beginnings, such as when he says to Nicodemus, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born again” (John 3:3, NIV). In this instance, Jesus is speaking of a spiritual rebirth that is necessary for salvation.

So, in general, the biblical meaning of new beginning has to do with starting anew, whether that be in a physical sense (like the new creation in Isaiah 43:19), or in a spiritual sense (like being born again in John 3:3). In both cases, it is an act of God that brings about a fresh start and a new lease on life.

God And New Beginnings

Is celebrating New Year biblical? Of Course! How you celebrate is the question. And not just New years, but every holiday we celebrate should always honor God. Our conduct should bring God glory.

“Our new year begins on January 1, but for the nation of Israel, the new year began in the autumn.  It began in the month of Tishri, the first month of the civil calendar and the seventh month of the religious calendar.

Leviticus 23:24-25  Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation…

Jewish tradition claims that this is the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve (remember that is not biblically supported, it’s just tradition). ” The biblical name for the day of the Jewish New Year is Yom Teruah, which literally means day of shouting or raising a noise. – ReasonsForHope

Will you be raising a noise this New Year? I hope you do. We have so much to be thankful for!

God likes to do new things, too. He wants to do new things in us and for us. He loves us too much to leave us where we are at. He wants to make us new. He wants to restore us and heal us.

Have you ever gone to an antique shop to find a dingy looking copper serving dish? It’s old, stained and doesn’t shine anymore.

However, in the right hands and with the right cleaner, that serving dish can be made new. It will shine and be a beautiful part of the serving collection.

We are like the old serving dish. We need to be cleaned, shined up and be made ready to serve again. How do we do that? We read God’s word, study it and pray daily.

Promises Of God For The New Year

The Lord is always faithful to His promises, and we can trust Him to keep His promises for us in the new year. He has promised to be with us always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20), and He will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).

He has promised to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19), and He will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13). We can trust God to keep His promises in the new year, and we can rest assured that He will be with us always, no matter what challenges we face.
