How Does The Bible Say We Should Handle Fear
The Bible offers many verses and passages that provide guidance on how we should handle fear. Here are a few examples:
- Trust in God: Proverbs 29:25 says, “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.” Throughout the Bible, we’re reminded that God is faithful and trustworthy, and that we can find refuge and safety in Him when we’re afraid.
- Pray: Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” When we’re afraid, we can turn to God in prayer, asking Him to calm our fears and give us His peace.
- Seek God’s Word: Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” When we’re feeling afraid or uncertain, we can turn to the Bible for guidance and comfort. The Bible is full of promises and examples of God’s faithfulness and power, and reading and meditating on these passages can help us to trust Him more fully.
- Have faith: Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Fear often comes from uncertainty or a lack of control, but as Christians, we can have faith in God’s plan for our lives and His ability to work all things for our good. By trusting in His sovereignty and goodness, we can face our fears with confidence and hope.

“Do Not Fear!” 365 Days A Year
I’ve lived a life marked by fear.
I’m standing at the door of single motherhood, and I’m afraid. I’ve known fear for so long. It’s been a close companion, I’m ashamed to admit it, but it’s true.
Afraid of abandonment, another affair, secret emails, angry words that stab deeply into my heart, identity and security. I’ve known the fear of counting pennies to feed my family. Rationing out gas for my car so we can make it to church and the grocery store that week.
The kind of fear that brings you to your knees, choking on your own tears. Sobbing in the shower so the kids can’t hear you, but they still know. A fear that brings the momma bear out, fighting to protect my kids.
My life marked by fear has had grave consequences. Little by little it stole my identity, peace and happiness. I woke up one day and realized I didn’t know who I was anymore.
But not anymore. I draw a line in the sand.
I choose to heal, grow and learn to live courageously within the protective arms of the Savior!
I’ve been working on me. Call it boundaries. Call it self care. Call it whatever you wish, but I’m finding me now and who I am in Christ.
I’m overcoming fear!

How Do I Remove Fear From My Heart And Mind
Removing fear from our heart and mind can be a challenging process, but there are several steps we can take to work towards that goal. Here are a few ideas:
- Identify the source of your fear: Sometimes fear can feel overwhelming and all-encompassing, but it’s often rooted in specific thoughts or situations. Take some time to reflect on what’s causing your fear – is it a particular circumstance, a fear of failure or rejection, or something else entirely? Once you can identify the source of your fear, you can start to work on addressing it more effectively.
- Replace fearful thoughts with positive ones: The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:8 to focus on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy. When you find yourself thinking fearful thoughts, try to redirect your thinking towards more positive, uplifting ideas. You might even find it helpful to memorize scripture verses that speak to courage, strength, and faith.
- Practice relaxation techniques: Fear can often manifest physically in the form of tension, racing heartbeat, or shallow breathing. By practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, or meditation, you can help your body and mind to calm down and feel more peaceful.
- Turn to God in prayer: As mentioned earlier, prayer is a powerful tool for combatting fear. Take some time to talk to God about your fears, asking for His guidance, strength, and peace. Remember that He is always with you and that He promises to never leave or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
By implementing these strategies and seeking support from others, you can work towards removing fear from your heart and mind and living with greater peace and courage.
How To Overcome Fear Spiritually
Overcoming fear spiritually is about relying on our faith in God’s promises and seeking His guidance and strength as we face our fears. Here are a few ways to overcome fear spiritually:
- Pray: Prayer is a powerful tool for combatting fear. When we turn to God in prayer, we invite Him into our fears and ask for His guidance, peace, and protection. By bringing our fears to Him, we can find comfort in His presence and trust that He is with us through every challenge.
- Meditate on scripture: The Bible is full of verses and passages that speak to courage, strength, and faith. By meditating on these passages and applying their lessons to our lives, we can cultivate a deeper sense of trust in God’s power and goodness. Consider memorizing scripture verses that speak to courage and strength, so that you can call on them in times of fear.
- Seek support from others: As Christians, we are called to support and encourage one another. When we’re facing fear, it can be helpful to seek out the support of trusted friends or family members who can pray with us, offer guidance, or simply be a listening ear. We can also seek support from our church community or a spiritual mentor.
- Practice gratitude: Fear often stems from a sense of uncertainty or lack of control. By focusing on the things we’re grateful for, we can shift our perspective and cultivate a sense of peace and contentment. Take some time each day to reflect on the blessings in your life and give thanks to God for His provision.
By practicing these spiritual disciplines and seeking God’s guidance and support, we can overcome fear and live with greater peace and courage.
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!
Luke 1:45 (NIV)
What Does God Say About Fear
God’s word has a lot to say about fear. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Fear is a spirit that comes from the enemy and is intended to keep us from living in the fullness of what God has for us. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
God is always with us and wants to help us, so we don’t need to be afraid. “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).
When we walk through difficult times, we can trust that God is with us and will comfort us. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze” (Isaiah 43:2).
No matter what challenges we face in life, we can trust that God will be with us and will help us through them.

How Do You Break The Spirit Of Fear
How do you recover from a life marked by fear?
- Prayer. And God’s Word. Together it’s like a dynamite, destroying the strongholds the enemy hangs heavy on our necks.
- When fear starts to creep in, immediately attack with praying God’s Word over the situation and over yourself.
- Choose the positive perspective.
- Turn up the Praise and Worship music and worship our Savior.
- Read good books that encourage your heart in the Lord.
- Your life will not change until your prayer life, quiet time with the Lord, Bible reading time and thought life changes.
For example, I was afraid of poverty. I was a stay at home wife and mom for almost 20 years. All my finances, retirement, future security was wrapped up in my ex husband.
With the divorce I had no house, no retirement, no income.
And here is how fighting fear and my self-care changed my perspective.
I put encouraging Christian friends around me. I sought after God for His healing and strength, read His word and prayed hard.
I prayed for Him to be “just”! Just in this situation, in my future, in my finances, in providing a new home for me and my children, in my life and in my children’s life and yes, even in my ex-husband’s life.

What Psalm Is Faith Over Fear
Psalm 56 is a powerful psalm that speaks to the theme of faith over fear. In this psalm, the psalmist expresses his trust in God in the face of danger and persecution, declaring that God is faithful and able to protect him from his enemies.
One of the key verses in this psalm is verse 3, which says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” This verse speaks to the importance of turning to God in times of fear and relying on Him for protection and guidance.
Another powerful verse in this psalm is verse 11, which says, “In God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me?” This verse reminds us that God’s protection is greater than any threat or danger we may face in this world, and that we can have faith in Him even when we feel afraid.
Overall, Psalm 56 is a beautiful reminder of the power of faith over fear. By putting our trust in God and relying on His strength and protection, we can overcome our fears and live with courage and confidence.
