The Bible is full of the promises of God and reminders that He is faithful and full of grace. Let this powerful list teach you more about His incredible character.
Reflect on this collection of God’s promises to help you in whatever you’re facing today. Take encouragement from the truth that God is with you and God’s love and mercy is overflowing for you.
The Bible lists hundreds of promises of God. Promises regarding life, marriage, health, finances, protection, suffering and more. We can have confidence in God to follow through with His promises in His perfect timing.
We have to realize that God’s promises are not always fulfilled the way we want them to be or when we want them to be. Sometimes we have to wait patiently and trust in God.
Below is the printable list of the promises of God.
What Does Standing On The Promises Of God Mean?
When we stand on the promises of God, we are declaring our trust and faith in Him. We are saying that we believe His Word is true and that He will do what He has said. We are staking our lives on His character and His faithfulness.
Standing on the promises of God means that we will not be shaken by what comes against us. We know that He is good and that He will never leave us or forsake us. His promises are our anchor and our hope.
We can stand firm in the midst of the storm, knowing that He is with us and will see us through.
God’s promises are there to encourage us, to comfort us when we are sad, or just to give us hope when things are tough.
But, sometimes it can be difficult to understand how we can be sure that God will make good on those promises. Or sometimes we don’t like waiting and think God should move faster than what He is doing.
Yet, God’s promises still stand and are something we can hold tight too. He proved that by sending Jesus to die on the cross to save us from our sins.
And He proved it again by raising Jesus from the dead, so that we could be saved. And He proves it every time we trust in Jesus and follow Him.
I really like this quote from iBelieve, “…we are instructed to pray without stopping-even if we can’t see our prayers being answered right away or the way we would like them to be answered. His promises are true regardless of what we see, feel, or think. We’re also called to trust the Lord even when we don’t understand. I know that can be the hardest hurdle, but again, we must, sis.”
The Bible is full of promises from God to His people and for those who believe. But what does it mean to stand on the promises of God?
Too often, people try to read their own meaning into what the Bible says and apply it to their own situations. God never intended for us to take the promises He gave and make them into something that fits our own agenda.
When we take the time to learn what the Bible means when it says something, we’ll also learn how to apply it to our own lives.
Simply using the promises of God as an answer to our problems isn’t enough — we need to know what He’s saying to us. When we understand what He’s saying, we can apply His promises to our own lives.
How Many Promises Are In The Bible?
God makes the best and most wonderful promises, and He keeps them with an unfailing and gracious hand. How many promises of God are in the Bible?
It is estimated that there are more than 2000 promises in the bible. I know, that’s a lot of promises. Throughout the bible, God has made many promises to us.
In fact, God has made so many promises that it can sometimes be hard to keep track of them all. You’re probably already thinking to yourself: “how am I supposed to remember more than 2000 promises?” Or “which promises are for me?”
The promises of God reveal his particular and eternal purposes to which he is unchangeably committed and upon which believers can totally depend. These promises are, however, conditional upon obedience on the part of believers.
How Do We Receive God’s Promises
How do we receive God’s promises? It’s a question we’ve all asked. When we read about God and His promises, we wonder; when will I see His promises come to pass? When will I receive what God has promised me?
You’re not alone. Many of us have been there, and we’re still there. God’s promises are real, but our circumstances may seem to tell a different story.
The way we receive God’s promises is the same way He gives them to us: by faith. The Bible says that “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6).
“Read the Word of God daily—every chance you get. Let it be the soundtrack of your life. When I gave my life to Christ, I read the Word of God every day, taking notes and underlining passages, and I even listened to the Bible on cassette tapes when I worked out and drove in the car. You can’t trust the promises unless you know them and make them the foundation of your life.” – Tyndale
The Bible is filled with the promises of God. From Genesis to Revelation we read of normal people that received the promises of God. These promises are sealed by the highest authority, God’s Word.Edward Antonio
Do you remember Simeon in the bible? Luke chapter 2. God promises Simeon that he will see Jesus before he dies. Simeon goes his whole life waiting and looking. In his old age, over 200 years old according to Eastern Orthodox Church, God tells Simeon to go to the temple. Simeon obeys. It’s there that he sees Mary and Joseph with their child, Jesus. He gets to hold Jesus and the Bible says he praises God.
This promise from God to Simeon wasn’t fulfilled till he was of an old age.
Some of the promises of God we may see soon and yet, some promises of God we will not see till we are in heaven. We must trust God and be patient as we wait.
What Are God’s Promises For My Life
5 Promises Of God For Your Life
We get to be children of God. All who receive Christ, through faith, become children of God. When we become children of God, we are given certain privileges, which are described using the Greek term exousia. This term is often translated as a “right,” or an entitlement. However, it also implies that we have the power to do something. Becoming a child of God doesn’t simply mean that we have some privileges – it also means that we have spiritual power. – Bible Ref
God will give us wisdom. James states that God gives wisdom generously. He’s not stingy in providing insight to those who ask how to make the best choices. In fact, God gives wisdom away without “reproach” or finding fault.
In other words, He doesn’t look at all of our previous foolish choices and decide we are not worthy of receiving wisdom from Him. What an amazing promise! The God of the universe stands by ready and willing to give abundant wisdom to those who ask based only on their trust and confidence in Him, not on their track record. – Bible Ref
He will give us everything we need to live a godly life. How are we equipped to live as Christians? It’s not something that comes naturally – we weren’t born with it, and we don’t earn it through hard work or good behavior. For those of us who are in Christ, God has given us everything we need for life and godliness. Just like salvation, all of this was ours when we came to know Him (through faith in Christ). As Peter makes clear, knowing God – the source of all life – is the only path to being fully equipped to live as He calls us to do.
He will forgive us of our sins. Confessing our sins is crucial for Christians because it allows us to receive assurance from God that our sins will be forgiven and have no impact whatsoever on our relationship with Him. Although this particular passage is addressed to believers, John goes on to say that those who confess their sins will be both forgiven and cleansed, making it clear that confession is critical for all Christians, regardless of their spiritual maturity.
God give us peace. Paul does not promise that God will do every single thing they request. They were not being handed a blank check. But he does promise that, when the Philippians pray about things, God will change the Philippians themselves: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7). When they really pray about their problems and choose to be thankful, God will give them peace. – Got Questions
