List of God’s Promises In The Bible

The list of God’s promises I put together for you is not a complete list, however, it’s a great place to get you started.

The Bible is full of the promises of God and reminders that He is faithful and full of grace. Let this powerful list of God’s promises teach you more about His incredible character. Reflect on this collection of God’s promises to help you in whatever you’re facing today. Take encouragement from the truth that God is with you and God’s love and mercy is overflowing for you.

The Bible lists hundreds of promises of God. Promises regarding life, marriage, health, finances, protection and more. We can have confidence in God’s promises.

We have to realize that God’s promises are not always fulfilled the way we want them to be or when we want them to be. Sometimes we have to wait patiently and trust in God.

Below are some of the promises of God.

What Does Standing On The Promises Of God Mean?

The Bible is full of promises from God. They are there to encourage us, to comfort us when we are sad, or just to give us hope when things are tough.

But sometimes it can be difficult to understand how we can be sure that God will make good on those promises. Or sometimes we don’t like waiting and think God should move faster than what He is doing.

Yet, God’s promises are still stand and are something we can hold tight too. He proved that by sending Jesus to die on the cross to save us from our sins. And He proved it again by raising Jesus from the dead, so that we could be saved. And He proves it every time we trust in Jesus and follow Him.

I really like this quote from iBelieve, “Simply because the promises of God were written to help us in our time of need and to encourage us, but also to know God’s amazing character. And we are instructed to pray without stopping-even if we can’t see our prayers being answered right away or the way we would like them to be answered. His promises are true regardless of what we see, feel, or think. We’re also called to trust the Lord even when we don’t understand. I know that can be the hardest hurdle, but again, we must, sis.”

The Bible is full of promises from God to His people and for those who believe. But what does it mean to stand on the promises of God?

Too often, people try to read their own meaning into what the Bible says and apply it to their own situations. God never intended for us to take the promises He gave and make them into something that fits our own agenda.

When we take the time to learn what the Bible means when it says something, we’ll also learn how to apply it to our own lives. Simply using the promises of God as an answer to our problems isn’t enough — we need to know what He’s saying to us. When we understand what He’s saying, we can apply His promises to our own lives.

How Many Promises Are In The Bible?

God makes the best and most wonderful promises, and He keeps them with an unfailing and gracious hand. How many promises of God are in the Bible?

Daily Commercial says there are 8,810. Others have counted 7000. Herbert Lockyer wrote a book called All the promises of the Bible and claims to list 8000.

It is estimated that there are more than 2000 promises in the bible. I know, that’s a lot of promises. Throughout the bible, God has made many promises to us. In fact, God has made so many promises that it can sometimes be hard to keep track of them all. You’re probably already thinking to yourself: “how am I supposed to remember more than 2000 promises?” Or “which promises are for me?”

The promises of God reveal his particular and eternal purposes to which he is unchangeably committed and upon which believers can totally depend. These promises are, however, conditional upon obedience on the part of believers.

How Do We Receive God’s Promises

How do we receive God’s promises? It’s a question we’ve all asked. When we read about God and His promises, we wonder; when will I see His promises come to pass? When will I receive what God has promised me?

You’re not alone. Many of us have been there, and we’re still there. God’s promises are real, but our circumstances may seem to tell a different story.

The way we receive God’s promises is the same way He gives them to us: by faith. The Bible says that “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6).

“Read the Word of God daily—every chance you get.  Let it be the soundtrack of your life.  When I gave my life to Christ, I read the Word of God every day, taking notes and underlining passages, and I even listened to the Bible on cassette tapes when I worked out and drove in the car.  You can’t trust the promises unless you know them and make them the foundation of your life.” – Tyndale

The Bible is filled with the promises of God. From Genesis to Revelation we read of normal people that received the promises of God. These promises are sealed by the highest authority, God’s Word.

Do you remember Simeon in the bible? Luke chapter 2. God promises Simeon that he will see Jesus before he dies. Simeon goes his whole life waiting and looking. In his old age, over 200 years old according to Eastern Orthodox Church, God tells Simeon to go to the temple. Simeon obeys. It’s there that he sees Mary and Joseph with their child, Jesus. He gets to hold Jesus and the Bible says he praises God.

This promise from God to Simeon wasn’t fulfilled till he was of an old age.

Some of the promises of God we may see soon and yet, some promises of God we will not see till we are in heaven. We must trust God and be patient as we wait

Scripture Writing

What is scripture writing you ask? I’m glad you brought it up!

Here is how I like to do my daily scripture writing.

#1 Either research a certain word or topic in the bible, a topic that you are wanting to focus on. For example Love, Faith, Overcoming, Biblical Marriage, Dating, Trust, Fear, etc. OR follow me for my scripture writing challenges as I’m already putting in the work to hunt down topic bible verses.

If you do it on your own, find one verse per day of the month, if you are doing a monthly scripture writing challenge. You most definitely can do this on a weekly basis as well.

#2 Get a notebook, planner, or something to write on and a pen or pencil. Or better yet, Download my Scripture Writing Journal!

#3 Get something to write with! Colored pens, markers, or pencils are great to write with and color in your doodles or brighten up the white space around the scripture verse you write out.

#4 Pray. Praying over and during my scripture writing time has been so beneficial to my walk with God. I pray for forgiveness, guidance, for my eyes and ears to know and recognize when the Holy Spirit moves and guides me. I worship God. Humbly, being so grateful for everything. In prayer, I allow God to wrap His arms around me.

It’s that easy! It doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated. I wrote an article on Scripture Writing. Read more by clicking Here.
