How Can One Be Persistent In Prayer
There are many ways to pray persistently, but here are five of the most effective:
- Set aside a specific time each day for prayer. Whether it’s first thing in the morning, during your lunch break, or before you go to bed, make sure you have a dedicated time for prayer. This will help you to be more consistent in your prayer life. Set alarms on your phone to help you.
- Make a list of things to pray for. This can include your own personal requests, as well as intercessory prayer for others. Having a list will help you to focus your prayer time and make sure you don’t forget anything. Keep this list in your phone or in a notebook.
- Include Scripture Writing while you pray. I host a monthly scripture writing challenge and would love for you ladies to join me.
- Pray with a friend or family member. This can be a great way to stay accountable in your prayer life, as well as to get support and encouragement from others. We all could use the extra accountability!
- Use a prayer journal. This can be a great way to track your prayers and see how God is working in your life. You can also look back over your journal and see how God has answered your prayers in the past. This is the one I use.
- Seek out resources to help you pray. There are many books and websites that offer great tips and ideas for how to pray persistently. Take advantage of these resources and use them to help you in your journey of prayer. I really enjoyed the book, A Praying Life by Paul E Miller.

And please help us to persevere when we don’t feel like praying, or when our prayers don’t seem to be getting anywhere. Help us to trust that you are listening, and that you care about our prayers.
