Are you distracted in your prayer and bible study time? Are you needing a guided prayer journal to help you stay focused? Do you enjoy scripture writing? Wanting to journal through those hard times, grieving and anxiety?
I remember the day I started using a prayer journal. I started scripture writing around the same time.
I started a prayer journal because of past deep scars and trauma. Writing our my prayers, thoughts and bible verses really helped focus me on the Lord during hard times. The journal also became a remembering stone in my life. I could go back a read where I once was and it helped me realize how far I had come.
Bible Journaling has helped me realize God’s deep love for me!
I’m always drawn to the reminder of God’s deep love for me.
I’ve been tossed aside like a crumpled piece of paper, I’ve felt unwanted, used, replaced and everything between. I struggle trusting people truly care and have to work hard to link arms with God to heal.
As I would use a prayer journal, God would remind me of His deep love for me and that would stop me in my tracks and fills my heart with desire for Him.
I just love His promise to be near the broken-hearted and the reminder that we can not comprehend just how deep and wide His love is for us.
Journal has been a tool God has used to help me focus on Him, grown and heal and to be reminded of His great love for me in everything I face.
So no matter what I’m forced to face, I face it knowing His love covers me.
In my heartache and with tear stained cheeks, I face it wrapped in His love.
In abandonment by those closest to me, I face it knowing He is closer than any loved one will ever be.
In a world crumbling around me, I face it knowing He is in control and has a plan that will bring Him glory.
What Is A Prayer Journal
I’ve been using journals off and on for years to keep my prayers, thoughts, and scripture writing all in one place. You don’t have to be an excellent writer nor artist to keep a journal.
A prayer journal is simple any notebook or folder you use to write out your prayers, bible verses and/or thoughts and reflections.
A prayer journal is a notebook, paper, or anything you use to write out your prayers, thoughts, things you are thankful for, talks with God, and so on.

How Do You Use A Prayer Journal
When you think about how to use a prayer journal, a good starting point is to write out your praises and gratitude to God. The Bible tells us that He loves for us to draw near to Him. When we praise Him, when we are grateful, even for the small things, He loves it! He is more worthy of our praise than we currently are giving Him. He draws near and we become in awe of Him when we praise Him.
In a prayer journal, you can proclaim how great God is and write out all of the wonderful things He has done.
He has one simple, deep, high, holy, happy, seemingly impossible goal for us as Christians. Draw near to Him!
Hebrews 4:16 – Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 7:25 – He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 11:6 – Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who draws near to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
How Do You Pray With A Prayer Journal
It’s easy to get caught up in wondering if there is a correct way to pray but all you have to do is speak and listen. Simply, tell God what is on your heart by talking to Him. God cares for you and wants you to cry out to Him.
A prayer journal isn’t meant to be another tedious item to keep track of. It’s meant to be something you desire to do. It’s messy, full of emotion, thoughts, doubts, creativity and questions. It’s meant to be a tool to connect you to the heart of God. It’s meant to be a way to record your faith walk. It’s a way to deepen your faith and help you share what God has done in your life. It’s meant to be a place of remembrance like the stone altars in the Bible. – Christianity.com
