Bible Verses on Controlling Your Emotions
Feelings and emotions are essential, wonderful, God-created aspects of our lives and relationships; they enable us to experience our life and connect with one another, which is why upon greeting someone we often ask, “How are you?” and “How do you feel?” Feelings are the “concerns” that connect us in relationship with ourselves, others, and God. – Soul Shepherding
The Bible tells us to manage our emotions and control our temper. Many of us, if we care to admit it, find it very hard to control our temper especially when we are angered by something we utterly dislike or find completely unreasonable. – Christianity Today
Regardless of which emotions you struggle with, or which triggers cause them to run wild, you can find peace and strength in God’s Word. Feelings are not facts!
Bible Verses about Controlling Your Emotions
Ask God to guard your emotions, so that you can experience the everyday joys that he has for you! Yes, pray and ask our Heavenly Father for His help.
Finally, build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power. Put on all the armor that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil’s evil tricks.– Ephesians 6:10-11
In the midst of strong emotions, give God a chance to mold and mend your heart, and then move on.
He heals the broken-hearted and bandages their wounds. – Psalm 147:3
When emotions overwhelm you, and you simply don’t know what to do next, pray for God’s perfect tranquility.
The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body.– Colossians 3:15
God wants you to use wisdom. Wisdom says wait a little while until the emotions settle down, then check to see if you really believe it’s the right thing to do. The Bible says in Colossians 3:15 to be led by peace in making decisions. Don’t let your emotions make your decisions. A good statement to remember is this: “Wisdom says wait; emotions say hurry.” – Joyce Meyer
Scriptures Emotional Healing
I don’t believe God intended for our feelings to guide us. He wants that job. God wants to be our guide. Our feelings should not be what drives our decisions, but more of an indicator of whats going on inside us. We must put our trust in what God says and check our feelings at the door with the Word of God.
Hard times are a part of real life. We all, at some point, will walk through a hard time in life. A death of a loved one, betrayal of a friend, an affair, financial problems, etc. Expect it. But even through the ugliest of days, God is still near and will not allow you to be overtaken by the difficult times, if we stay in prayer to Him. Nor does He love you any less. Yes, we must chose Him, but His love for us never sways.
God’s Word and prayer combined is like a dynamite in the hands of a Christian. Want to know how to fight the powers of this dark world? That’s how. With prayer and scripture. EVERYDAY!
Give God your best time…the best you. Is that in the morning? Or afternoon? Or maybe evenings?
Choose to make that time, when you are at your best, your quiet time with the Lord.
Print off one of my scripture writing plans, grab your bible, notebook, favorite pens and markers and find your quiet spot. Settle in for quality prayer time with God. Rotate prayer and reading God’s word.
Pray before you start. Ask God to open your heart and mind to what He wants you to know that day. Ask Him to guide you, your feelings and emotions.
Ask for forgiveness and a repentant heart. I dare say go a step further and ask God for a deeper conviction of things in your life that hurts Him. So you may turn away from them.
Read your bible. Start in any book you feel lead to read in and everyday continue reading in that book of the Bible till you are done. Then pick a new book and continue.
