I Feel Like God Doesn’t Care About Me
I’ve been here. Deep in sorrow. Broken. A void I tried filling with sinful things, but nothing worked. And on top of it all, my suffering was caused by the selfishness and unrepentant sin of someone I was supposed to be able to trust.
I asked God all the why questions. I questioned. I begged. I pleaded.
My situation never reconciled, unfortunately.
Are you in a hard situation and feel like God doesn’t care about you?
Perhaps you may feel like God won’t forgive you? Or God doesn’t want you happy? Or God maybe you might think that God doesn’t care about your feelings?
I stand beside you in this season to tell you that this is not true. God does you love more than you know. God does care about you and your feelings.
However, us struggling with the idea of God not caring for us boils down to our perspective of God’s will for our lives and the suffering we are called to endure.
I wasn’t taught about suffering. I grew up in church and had a christian family. And somehow I missed the memo that life will have ups and downs. Suffering will come. God uses suffering to bring us closer to Him, if we allow.
I want to encourage you to read up on hard times and suffering from sound authors and preachers. And pray. Ask God for His helps in better understanding this season in your life.
What To Do When You Feel Like God Doesn’t Care
As a Christian, you’re called to live a life of truth. But that can be difficult when you’re suffering and all you can see is the pain.
In those moments, it’s important to remember that you have a choice: you can give in to the lies or you can fight back with the truth.
One will destroy you, but the other will empower you. The battle is not in your circumstances but within your mind. We change our lives when we change our perspective.
“Painful experiences can cause you to feel like God doesn’t care. If You Feel God Doesn’t Care, remember some of God’s best friends questioned Him, such as Moses (Exodus 5:22-23), David (Psalm 42:9-11), Martha (John 11:21), and others. Feeling alone or questioning God doesn’t mean you don’t believe Him. Remember that His shoulders are big enough to scream at and cry on, and to carry your questions.” – Via Dr. Carol Ministries

10 Reminders When You Feel Like God Doesn’t Care
When you feel like God doesn’t care, it can be helpful to remember that He is always with you.
It’s great to read through some of David’s prayers in the Book of Psalms. Notice how in the beginning of his prayers he is very raw and honest about his hardships with God and then he ends his prayers with preaching to his heart of God’s goodness and faithfulness.
Let’s follow this example when we start feeling like God does not care.
Here are 10 reminders to keep in mind:
- God is never far from you. He is always with you, even when you feel alone. Deuteronomy 31:8
- God is always listening. He hears your prayers and your cries for help. Jeremiah 29:12-13
- God is always working. He is always working for your good, even when it doesn’t feel like it. John 5:17
- God is always faithful. He will never leave you or forsake you. Psalm 25:8-10
- God is always good. He is always good, even when the circumstances are bad. Psalm 86:5
- God loves you. He loves you so much, even when you don’t feel deserving of His love. John 15:9
- God is patient. He is patient with you, even when you are struggling. Numbers 14:18
- God is kind. He is always kind, even when you are not. Psalm 145:8-12
- God is always wise. He knows what is best for you, even when you don’t. Job 12:13
- God is always in control. He is in control of everything, even when it feels like your life is out of control. Ecclesiastes 3:11
When I feel like God doesn’t care about me, remembering these things can help you to feel closer to God even when you feel like He doesn’t care.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18
I have had my share of times that I have felt like God didn’t care and didn’t hear me. Hardships in life have brought me to my knees before God like never before. And I’m thankful, because my relationship with God is closer than before.
If you have ever doubted God’s love for you I pray this article encourages your heart.
Prayer When You Feel Like God Doesn’t Care
Dear Heavenly Father, I feel like You don’t care. I feel like I’m all alone in this world. I feel like my problems continue with no help from you. My heart is broken and I’m exhausted. But, I know that You do care. I know that You are with me always, just like the Bible tell us. I know that I am never alone, because you walk with me. I know that I can do all things through You. I know that you will work this out in time. Help me to find my peace and security in you as I walk this out. Give me the strength and mindset I need to get through this. Renew me, Lord. Thank You for being with me, even when I feel like You’re not. Thank You for being my anchor in this storm. In Jesus’ name, Amen

God Doesn’t Care Suffering
This is a hard one for sure. I think because we don’t have a good understanding or grasp on suffering and God calling us to it. Also, we are told that if we have enough faith we won’t suffer or will only suffer a little. Yet, that isn’t true. When we believe we wont’ have to suffer and then walk through a hard time that triggers some to give up on their faith and walk with God.
I don’t claim to have all the answers to suffering. I’m not sure any of us really do.
But, from my own experience, I know my poor understanding and wrong perspective kept me wallowing in pain longer than I should have.
Suffering is horrible. None of us enjoy those seasons.
But, let us remember that suffering doesn’t mean God doesn’t care.
We are told over and over that God walks with us, fully loves us and wants good for us.
As I mentioned earlier my pain brought me to my knees before God. Perhaps I needed this suffering, which I absolutely hated, to bring me closer to God.
God wanted good for me and that meant making me walk a hard road to get me were I needed to be with Him.

If God Cares Why Doesn’t He Help
Why Isn’t God Helping Me!?
When you feel like God isn’t helping you, it’s important to remember that He is always with you and loves you so much.
Even when things are tough, He is there to help you through.
The Bible is full of encouragement for when you feel like you can’t go on. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
This means that no matter what you’re facing, God is always there to help you. He will never leave you or forsake you.
Look at the book of Psalms and David’s prayers. Notice how he is very real and honest with God about his pain and suffering? Then then he turns it around and preaches to his heart God’s truth? That’s what we need to be doing everyday!
So when you’re feeling down, turn to the Bible for encouragement. You’ll find that God is always there for you, no matter what.
The Christian life is not exempt from sorrow.
In your mind you’ve built your case against God and tell yourself that He doesn’t care, but that can’t be farther than the truth.
Our suffering doesn’t dictate God’s love and care for us. It’s our perspective and understanding of hard times that needs to change.
Pray right now and ask God for wisdom and understanding as you walk through this hard season. God created you and God loves you more than you can fully grasp.

When It Feels Like God Is Doing Nothing
When you feel like God is doing nothing, it can be difficult to remain hopeful and faithful. Suffering is hard!
However, there are some things you can do to help keep your faith strong. Here are five things to do when you feel like God is doing nothing:
- Pray. This is perhaps the most important thing you can do. Pray for strength, for guidance, for understanding. Pray for the feeling that God is near, even when you can’t see Him at work.
- Read your Bible. The Bible is full of stories of God’s power and love. Reading it can help remind you that God is always at work, even when we can’t see it.
- Talk to a trusted friend or pastor. Sometimes it can be helpful to talk to someone else about your feelings. They may be able to offer some words of wisdom or comfort.
- Serve others. When we focus on others, it can help us remember that God is at work in their lives as well. Serving others is a great way to show your faith in action.
- Be patient. God’s timing is not always our timing. Sometimes we have to wait for His plan to unfold. Trust that god is always at work, even when it feels like He’s doing nothing.
Feeling alone in your faith journey? You don’t have to be.
