Does God Hear All Of Our Prayers?

God hears our prayers. But, does God listen to every prayer? There’s been times when I didn’t feel like He was listening. I didn’t feel anything, but the suffocating noise of my broken heart.

But, as I moved closer to God, refusing to listen to the enemy, I have learned God was always with me. I can look back now and see the moments where God held me.

Can our prayers be hindered by our actions and attitude? Yes.

Does God answer every prayer?  No, He does not, and that may be a blessing.

You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered. (1 Peter 3:7)

Now that verse is directed at husbands and their hindered prayers because of them treating their wives poorly. OUCH!!

But there are other verses, like the ones listed below that are for Christians in general.

Let him who means to love life and see good days refrain his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking guile. And let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears attend to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
(1 Peter 3:10–12)

And another one here…

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. (1 Peter 4:7)

These are convicting, aren’t they? Our prayers can be hindered if we are not careful.

Does God Hear My Prayers

Yes. He is God. He hears everything including our prayers. God uses prayer as a means to communicate to Him, to seek forgiveness of sins, seek His will and align ourselves with Him.

But, our prayers can be hindered by our bad behavior.

God wants us to pray. While our behavior can sometimes hinder our prayers, God hears our prayers.

Speaking to believers here, when we hang on to sin the bible says our prayers are hindered (Read 1 John 5:14-15 & 2 Chronicles 7:14 & Proverbs 28:9)

This is convicting!

What that means is for our prayers to be heard we must be working on our relationship with God. Seek His will. Turn from sin. And have faith that as we pursue Christ our prayers will be answered by a Holy, Loving and Heavenly Father.

We can not just go through the motions.

How Do I know If God Is Hearing My Prayers

Outside of the reasons I mentioned above, we know God is hearing our prayers because…We must pray in Faith.

We see this in Matthew 21:22, where Jesus says, “And everything you shall ask in prayer believing, you shall receive.” It is important to realize that the very act of asking for what we need shows our faith.

We do not demand, as humbly ask and fully believe in faith.

Look at Isaiah 66:2. Who does God look to with favor?

All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word. Isaiah 66:2

God hears our prayers – but doesn’t always answer the way we expect. God may answer us quickly with “Yes!” or He may say, “No.” In these cases it is because He knows best and wants what’s best for us in the long run – as parents do with their children.

Sometimes “No” comes when there is something in your life that would be harmful to you spiritually if you had it; being turned away from what is ultimately bad for us can actually be good for us, like the way meat tastes so much better when a person’s diet consists mainly of cheese and soda.

If you are humbly seeking God, please know that God hears our prayers.

Why does God sometimes seem deaf to our prayers?

I remember begging, for years, for God to restore my broken marriage. Yet it was pummeled over and over with adultery. Surely God’s will was for my marriage to be restored, right? However, God will not force one partner to do what he or she does not want. God didn’t force my husband to obey His word and I ended up filing for divorce. In tears and brokenness.

Even though God didn’t answer my prayers for restoration, He did walk through me through it all. I’ve grown closer to God as I’ve had to cling to Him to provide and heal me.

I never want to walk through that hardship again, but I can say I am grateful for that dark season that brought me to my knees before God. So grateful.

Desiring God says this, “Trusting God when we don’t hear him ultimately strengthens and purifies us. If our faith is based on lack of struggle and affliction and absence of doubt and questions, that’s a foundation of sand. Such faith is only one frightening diagnosis or shattering phone call away from collapse. Token faith will not survive the dark night of the soul. When we think God is silent or absent, God may show us that our faith is false or superficial. Upon its ruin, we can learn to rebuild on God our Rock, the only foundation that can bear the weight of our trust.”

God Hears Our Prayers Psalms

God hears our prayers and He is always there for us. He is our strength and our hope. In Him, we find comfort and peace.

The psalms are a beautiful expression of our faith and love for God. They are a reminder that no matter what we are going through, God is always with us.

He hears our prayers and He will always answer them in His perfect timing.

Your prayers don’t have to be super long and filled with complex words. Pray like you are talking to a friend. God already knows your deepest secrets and He still loves you. So just talk to God.

Prayer is a conversation.  Prayer is talking to God and listening to His response.

Psalm 66:17-20 – “I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!”

Best Way to Pray to God

Imagine prayer is just like making a friend with people in the neighborhood, community, work and church.

To get to know your friend you spend time with them, talking, hanging out and listening to them.

It is the same with God. Spend time and get to know God by reading the Bible, praying and applying His Word to your life.

If I were to say I had a relationship with God and then went on sinning unrepentantly will God still hear my prayers?

Now, I know we all are human and fail God daily. I get that. But If I call myself Christian and do not strive to follow God’s word and turn away from what hurts Him, then my prayers may be hindered until I seek God for forgiveness and help in my struggles.

If I am not truly giving it my all, what happens to my prayers?  I was doing some bible reading and came across these verses.

God Hears Our Prayers Verses

There are many verses in the Bible that talk about how God hears our prayers.

For example, in Psalm 65:2, it says, “O you who hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come.” This verse shows that no matter who we are or what we have done, God is always willing to listen to our prayers.

In 1 John 5:14, it says, “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.” This verse shows that if we pray according to God’s will, He is sure to hear us.

Lastly, in Matthew 7:7, it says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” This verse shows that if we ask for things from God, He will give them to us.

All of these verses show that God is always willing to listen to our prayers and that He will answer them if we pray according to His will.

“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” James 4:3

“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” James 1:6

Does God Hear Prayers from the Unsaved

Does God hear prayers from the unbelievers?

The bible tells us that God hears the prayers of everyone.

God is faithful and shows such great mercy and grace to ALL of us.

He intervenes in the lives of unbelievers when they pray.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

God is always looking for those who will listen and respond to Him.

Walk With A Contrite Heart Before God

Let’s strive to have that close relationship with God. To turn away from all that hurts God. To seek Him and know Him. To live in His will. To find our purpose in Him. To live under His protection.

I believe we will be happiest when we are striving to live in His will for our lives.  Imagine the peace we will have in knowing, at the end of the day, all is right between you and God. That He has you and listens to your prayers.

I cannot live with out Him. If it wasn’t for me clinging to God on a daily basis, I would not have been able to make it through the hard times in life. I find my strength to make it through another day as I find my refuge in Him.

God hears our prayers.
