We Can Surrender the Risky Things because the Lord is Always Trustworthy.
Inside you’ll find Scriptures Surrendering to God. Our days are full of moments that we catalog in the record book of our hearts for later, for the tomorrows and soon-to-be in the memory of our living. The living is tattooed here in this place of our remembering and we visit it often, sometimes we settle there and wait with nothing but hoped-for-wishes of what should have been, could have been, and we miss that renderings.
These tangibles are comfortable as we rehearse our hopes in the scattering of ourselves. Sometimes we relive the joy and with others we wet the pages of our today with the already dried tears of yesterday never fully surrendering the moment for what it was.
I have been thinking about the collection of memories lately, the necessity of surrender, and how trusting God enables us to place them all in His Book securely.
Scriptures Surrendering to God
It means we don’t have any control on the outcome. It requires a trust in something bigger and more complete than our own ability. Rationally, we must have a view of what we are giving in to if we are going to purpose to give up all we have. Yet, trust comes from a similar place like surrender where submission is the prerequisite for fruit to grow. As we shift our focus to the Lord, He leads us in the powerful path of trustworthy surrender.
You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in You. Is 26:3
Submission is the heart of the disciplined life.
A true disciple leaves all and follows hard after the teacher, even those precious good things that seem profitable. There are days when I wonder if I would have been the young rich ruler whose choice of worldly riches kept him from the wealth of following Jesus. The truth is, there are days I am unwilling to surrender my jewels for the treasures of heaven, and in these moments I miss the power of receiving from God. Since my hands are clenched on what I see rather than trusting His faithfulness, my need for control often interrupts my ability to fully trust God. Instead, I need to trust in His ability and commit my heart to diligence.
Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in Him and He will bring it to pass. Psalm 37:5
Sacrificial trust feeds the heart of faith.
Abraham’s journey of faith inspires me in this process of Trusting God in the Surrender, especially the sacrifice of his son. Isaac was the visual representation of his posterity, the promise He gave to Abram. God required a surrender of Abraham, asking him to lay down his inheritance upon a rock, willingly. Without question, this father of faith loaded his son’s shoulders with wood, carrying a knife in his hand and hope in his heart, and he trusted that God would fulfill the promise he gave long before.
Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; for in You do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift my soul unto You. Psalm 143:8
Surrender requires a large dose of faith anchored by trust.
Ultimately, Abraham BELIEVED God and because He did not doubt the character of the Almighty, because he knew God intimately, He saw His provision before the surrender. He could easily trust that whatever he gave up, no matter how precious it was, the return would always be greater than the risk.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, friends, and the very evidence of that which we cannot see with our natural eyes. (Hebrews 11:1) And without faith, it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God, for those that come to God must believe that he IS, that he is exactly who HE says He is (and He will do exactly what He says He will do). (Hebrews 11:6)emphasis mine
Trust is forged in the furnace of living faith moment by moment and day by day. It is necessary to bring ourselves to this altar of surrender so that we can open our hands and loosen the grip we have on those things we are holding a little too close to our hearts.
Here, layered in scripture we meet with the same God that spoke to Abraham and led him through the wandering nomadic trials to a rock that required great faith.
Yet, Abraham trusted God. Because of this powerful trust, He could surrender that which was most precious knowing it was not a risk but an act of worship and faith.
I invite you friends to walk close to His heart with me. Let’s trust in, delight in, commit to and fully surrender ourselves into the capable hands of the Father who asks us to Be still and Know that he is more than trustworthy, He is fully able to take our surrender and produce a miracle.
Praying for trust to grow as you surrender to Him!
Blessings,
Dawn

There I was, avoiding the elephant in the room, sipping my hot tea and overly admiring the pretty tea cup. Ignoring the obvious. He said I have trust issues. There I said it. And I ignored him. I struggled to grasp this truth. Yet, there it was. Trusting in God “You…
A week ago I sent my seventeen year old daughter halfway around the world. Before the sendoff, I cried all the way through worship. I couldn’t figure it out. I knew Hannah would be safe with her youth pastor, his wife, and the small group of teens going on this mission trip to the Czech Republic. …
