5 Ways To Choose Faith Over Fear

What’s inside: 5 ways to choose faith over fear

I’ve been in a season of having to intentionally choose faith over fear. Have you been here too? When faced with a difficult decision or situation, it can be tempting to choose the path of least resistance. Fear.

It takes courage to choose faith over fear, but it is always worth it in the end.

Those who choose to live their lives in fear never truly experience the joys and rewards that come from digging in deep, clinging to Jesus and growing their faith.

They are afraid to step out of their comfort zones or unwilling, they stay stuck and as a result, they miss out on so much.

Those who choose faith over fear are not immune to setbacks and disappointments, but they are able to bounce back much more quickly as we focus on God’s word.

So the next time you are faced with a difficult season, don’t let fear hold you back. Choose faith over fear, choose God, and see where it takes you.

You might just be surprised at what you are capable of because of this season you endured.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

When faced with a difficult season or situation, it can be helpful to remember that faith is more powerful than fear. Faith in God, His word and His timing.

This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be afraid of things, but rather that you should have faith in God that things will work out in the end. For His glory and your good. Jeremiah 29:11

If you focus on your fears, they will only grow larger. But if you work on growing your faith, you will be able to overcome your fears and achieve your goals.

So, what does faith over fear mean? To me, it means choosing to believe in God and His plan despite fear of this season.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid?”

Psalm 27:1

Why Live In Faith Not Fear

The Bible tells us that we are to live by faith, not by fear. Fear is a natural emotion that we all experience at times, but it is not something that we are supposed to live by. It’s not to be our guiding force.

We are called to trust God and live by faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7

Faith is believing that God is good even when things are tough. It is knowing that God is in control and that He has a plan for our lives.

When we live by faith, we are not controlled by our fears. We don’t let our fears dictate our actions or our decisions.

We trust God even when things are uncertain. We believe that God is good even when bad things happen. We know that God is in control and that He has a plan for our lives.

Living by faith is not always easy. There are times when our faith will be tested. But, if we work on growing our faith, trust in God and keep our focus on Him, we will be able to overcome our fears and live a life of faith.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Matthew 6:34

  1. Pray for guidance.

John 14:27

Faith Versus Fear

Faith and fear are two very different things. Faith is trusting in God and His word without fully knowing for sure what will happen. Fear is being afraid of something that might happen.

The Bible tells us that we should not be afraid, but instead have faith. Faith is what pleases God. Hebrews 11:6

When we have faith, we are trusting God even when we don’t know what the future holds. Fear, on the other hand, is a lack of trust in God.

Choosing faith over fear allows us to live in obedience to God, even when we don’t know what the future holds. Fear, on the other hand, is a lack of trust in God. Fear is when we are afraid of what might happen, instead of trusting God to take care of us.

I know that in dire situations this may feel hard to choose faith over fear. Think of it as developing a skill. Like learning to ride a bike. You keep practicing and practicing. Keep leaning on God for your peace and strength through this storm.

“Stop listening to your fears. God is your guide and your Father, and Teacher. Abandon yourself into the divine bosom of His most holy good pleasure. Keep up your spiritual exercises and be faithful in prayer.”
