What Does The Bible Say About Single Moms

If you’re a single mom and you’re looking for some encouragement, you’ve come to the right place. The Bible is full of encouraging scriptures for single moms, so let’s look at some of them.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

1) The Bible says that God is the father of the fatherless (Psalm 68:5). To me, this means that He is a father who will take care of us, and He won’t leave us alone. If you worry about your kids not having a father in their lives or the bad influence the dad might have to your kids remember that God is their Heavenly Father. We can trust our Kids with God’s plan.

2) The Bible says that God is the husband of the widow (Isaiah 54:4-5). To me, this means that He will be there with us and comfort us. Step in closer to God as He wraps you in His arms of protection.

3) The Bible says that the Lord will be a shield for the oppressed and a stronghold for the poor (Psalm 10:12 & Isaiah 25:4). To me, this means that He will protect us and give us strength. Not that the days are not hard, but we have the hope that God goes with us.

“The Bible does not directly address single mothers, but there are many examples of God’s gentle interaction with women, mothers, widows and their children. These examples, and God’s gentleness, apply whether a mother is single or married or widowed or divorced. God knows each person intimately and knows her situation completely.” –Got Questions

“Being a single mom is one of the toughest jobs for a woman no matter the continent nor culture. Some women are single moms by widowhood or by choice in adopting orphans or foster children. Some women found themselves abandoned by the fathers and forced to figure it all out on their own. No matter the reason, the Lord is close to single moms and willing to help them raise their children in the best way possible.” – What Christians Want To Know

God’s Word is full of encouragement for single mothers. In Deuteronomy 31:6, we read, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”

And in Matthew 6:26, we read, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

If you are a single mother, know that you are not alone. God is with you, and He knows the challenges you face. Lean on Him for strength, and trust that He will provide for you and your children.

Encouraging Bible Verses for Single Moms

I pray these bible verses for single moms will give your heart hope in this season of your life.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 15:`3

Single mom, may you be inspired to trust that the power of God’s hope can fill your life with boundless joy and  peace. Hope builds within you when you are inspired by the presence of God’s spirit to pursue all the things you need and want in life, like dreams for your children, rest from the struggle of being a provider, and most importantly, the trust you have in yourself that despite how vulnerable your child may feel at this moment, they will know they’re safe with you.

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Isaiah 58:11

Single mom, always remember that God will guide you, fulfill your needs and strengthen you. As you seek Him, He will renew you, heal you and cover you.

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:6

As a single mom, you can look forward to today and know that God has been faithful and will be faithful. His promises are true; He began a work in you (and your kids) that only He can complete – and even now He is making it all good use by perfecting every one of your complications!

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Psalm 4:8

As a single mother, you are the one responsible for looking after your children and keeping their lives together. While it may be challenging, don’t feel overwhelmed by it. God will keep your life together in this rough time as long as you do not lose hope and remain steadfast in your relationship with Him.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3

As a mom, you might think you’re alone with whatever problems you may be faced with. You might feel as though you can’t get past this painful time in your life. Remember, you are not alone! How God restores hearts is one of the most wonderful things about being a mom. I know from personal experience that God raises us up when we fall down and heals our deepest wounds and scars when all we want to do is give up hope for tomorrow! Be encouraged! He can carry your burdens for only He knows what it’s like to be a parent!

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19

Single mom, breathe a sigh of relief. We all know that having a family is difficult and challenging at times, but the important thing to remember is that you’re not alone in your struggles. God shall supply all that you will need. Ask god for the strength and peace as you work to provide and care for your kids.

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:13

Single mom, be encouraged. God is with you. Through all of your trials and tribulations as a single mom, God promises to go with us and give us His strength. Be sure to take the time in your busy day to keep God a priority in your life. It’s vital to get through these tough days.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Matthew 19:26

Overcoming As A Single Mom

I’m praying for the Christian single mom who yearns for a husband or a sense of security.

May God prepare our hearts and the hearts of our future husbands. May He mature us in Him as we seek His will for our future. May He bless us with contentment and peace as we wait and hope in Him today.

As I’ve already mentioned, it is vital you stay in constant prayer and bible reading as a single mom. Daily! Read through these bible verses for single moms and even start to make a list of your own to help you get through the hard days.

My friend and member in my FB group, Amber Nicole, said this perfectly!

“I made a comment a few days ago about my biggest struggle.

The struggle that right now I “am desperately longing for someone to love me and my son.” The struggle that I just want to feel that love. And yes – I do know that Jesus loves me.

Don’t mistake that comment for me being desperate and willing to settle for anything. Don’t mistake that comment for me being willing to be with someone for one night and be done. Don’t mistake that comment for for any of the random hookups and lack of standards you might think it suggested.

But there are days. Most days probably.

There are days that I long to be loved.
There are days that I wonder why there isn’t someone for me.
There are days that I cry and pray that someone would show up and care about me. About Lucas. About us.
I long for the best friend to share my life with and to raise my son with me. I long for the laughter and joy with someone else.

I long to be loved by someone.

But then there are also the good days.

There are the days where I get to hang out with friends who are so incredibly supportive.
There are the days where a sweet lady at church stops me to tell me she thinks I’m beautiful – on the day I needed it most.
There are the days where I’m so beyond happy that I was chosen to be his mother.
There are days that no matter how much I long to be loved, I am happy with where I am and what I have.

And so I’ll wait.”

It’s okay to feel lonely, we just don’t camp out there for long periods of time. And we guard ourselves so we do not make rash, unwise and possibly sinful decisions on the lonely days.

Prayer For Single Moms

You can pray the scripture for single moms above. Praying Scripture often will help bring peace to your heart when in a hard situation.

“God has chosen prayer as his channel of blessing. He has spread a table for us with every kind of wisdom, grace, and strength because he knows exactly what we need. But the only way we can get it is to pull up to the table and taste and see that the Lord is good.

Pulling up to that table is called the prayer of faith.

In other words, God doesn’t tell us to pray because he wants to impose some sort of regimen on us. This is not a system of legalism… God says to us, “Pray because I have all kinds of things for you; and when you ask, you will receive. I have all this grace, and you live with scarcity. Come unto me, all you who labor. Why are you so rushed? Where are you running now? Everything you need, I have.” – Pastor Jim Cymbala

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for offering me so much grace, love and strength. Being a single mom is so hard some days and I can’t do this with out your help. Forgive me of my sins and help me live in a way that honors you. Heal my heart and thoughts. Help me to be the mother my kids need me to be. Help me to work hard and provide for my children. As the long days come to an end help me to show my kids all the love and grace they need from me, their mother. Give me wisdom as I raise my kids and grow as a Christian. Most importantly help me to make You a priority in my life. Keep my circle of friends people who will encourage me and pray for me instead of tempt me to sin. I love you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
