10 Tools To Study The Bible For Busy Women

10 tools to study the bible for the busy mom. You want to study the bible but need the resources at your fingertips to dive deeper into God’s word. Use one of these 10 tools to study the Bible.

What Is The Best Way To Study The Bible

Everyone is different, and that means we all may enjoy different bible study tools and methods. Personally, I enjoy the SOAP Bible study method and Topic/subject studies.

Others may enjoy pouring over a concordance or verse mapping or the PRAISE Bible study method.

The key to remember here is that you do what works for you. Do you need a more creative outlet? Then add some Bible journaling to your study. Not artistic? No worries, add stickers or use pages and journals that are already decorated for you.

Do you prefer studying the Bible with a group? That’s perfectly okay as well. Some want or even need the feedback from a group or leader to help guide them through studying the Bible. You can find local bible study groups at the churches around your community or join an online bible study. Facebook has many bible study groups you can join.

The thing I want you to take away from this is there really isn’t a wrong or right way…as long as you are doing it. Pray and ask God to help you in understanding His word and guiding you through studying the Bible.

How Do You Study The Bible Effectively

The basics of how to study the Bible are boiled down to these 4 questions…

  1. What does the passage say?
  2. Who is the author?
  3. Who is the author speaking to?
  4. How can you apply this passage of scripture to your life?

Of course, you can dive deeper, but these 4 questions will help you study the Bible effectively. Like I mentioned above, the SOAP bible study method is my current favorite Bible study tool. And, it covers the questions I listed above to help you have an effective bible study.

What is the SOAP Method for Bible study

The S.O.A.P. Bible study method is a daily Bible journaling method, created by Pastor Wayne Cordeiro, for applying God’s Word to your life in a practical way. – OliveTree.com

The SOAP Bible study method is easy to use and you can do one or two verses at a time. This makes it a perfect Bible study tool for women on the go. I’m a single mom and I can totally relate to how extremely busy life can be, so this tool to study the bible works perfectly for me and my busy schedule.

10 Tools To Study The Bible

Use this list of tools to study the Bible for busy women. Getting into God’s word does not have to be hard or time consuming.

Bible Study Tools For Beginners:

  1. Read The Bible In A Year – This is a popular bible reading plan. Many churches and ministries will start a read the bible in a year plan at the beginning of the year. However, it’s never too late to start a bible reading plan. Start today! You can find many yearly bible reading plans all over the internet, but I love the YouVersion app for this.
  2. 12 Books In 12 Months – This is a very simple way to study the Bible. You pick one book of the Bible to read through per month. This is not as fast paced as the bible in a year reading program. If you need a slower paced bible study tool, this is it.
  3. YouVersion Bible App – This is my favorite Bible study app. It’s free and they have so many devotionals and bible reading plans for busy moms. You can do a study with a friend or group of friends or all alone if you prefer. It’s available on most devices.
  4. The SOAP Bible Study Method – I mentioned this earlier, this is my favorite bible study tool right now.
  5. Topical Bible Study – This bible study method is another favorite of mine. You basically chose a topic and use google or the Blue Letter Bible to look up everywhere in the Bible that word or topic comes up. For example, suffering – look up all the verses in the Bible that talk about suffering. See how we, as Christian, are supposed to respond to suffering. Look at how people in the Bible respond to suffering. What does God think of us suffering. etc.
  6. The Praise Bible Study Method – This is another great Bible study tool. It is an acronym bible study method. P-pray, R-read, A-assess, I-Investigate, S- Submit, and E-express.
  7. Character Study – This another favorite of mine. Chose a character in the Bible and look up all the passages of scripture where this person is mentioned. Ask yourself questions like – where did this person live and travel, what did he/she do for a living, how was their relationship with God, what did they have to overcome, what were their good traits and what were their bad traits. Finally, ask yourself what you can learn or apply to your life because of their example.
  8. Blue Letter Bible app – This is one of the best tools to study the Bible. It’s online, in-depth, and free. Download the app to your mobile device of choice and experience this tool to study the Bible anywhere you go.
  9. Bible Journaling – Bible journaling is where verse study or topic study meets creativity. It’s great! If you need to let out your creative juices, you can couple that with Bible study. Here are some easy bible journaling ideas to get you started.
  10. Scripture Writing – I love scripture writing and do a monthly Scripture writing plan in my FB group. It’s a great tool to study the bible for moms on the go. I have many scripture writing plans to choose from here on my website. Check out my shop for lots of Scripture Writing Plans and Journals.

Where Do I Begin – Basic Bible Study Tips

Where do you start reading and studying the bible? Pray and ask God to lead you. If you are just starting to read the Bible, many recommend starting with the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, as you’ll learn about Jesus and His journey.

If you are already reading the Bible and looking to go deeper than choose any of the tools to study the Bible I listed above. Try each one till you find the perfect one for you.

Just a side note – sometimes we don’t want to read the Bible. Perhaps this is a new habit you want to create or life is super busy and the thought of skipping the day’s bible reading and prayer time is tempting.

Either way, I urge you to press through. Read your bible and pray. Be determined to do this one thing for yourself and your relationship with God.

“Reading or hearing God’s Word is like planting a garden. If you want to grow or “build” a garden, you must first plant the seeds, or the actual plant or flower. God’s Word is the seed that grows the faith. Knowing His promises, what God says about you, about life, and about Jesus’ plan for eternal life won’t transplant themselves into your brain by osmosis. Become familiar with the Bible and what faith is all about by meditating on its contents. This will give you the basis for growing or increasing your faith.” – oneplace
