Celebrating Easter Sunday the Psalms

Here are 5 of my favorite Psalms for Easter:

1. Psalm 118:24: “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” This verse reminds us to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Resurrection Sunday, and to be thankful for the gift of salvation that He has given us.

2. Psalm 16:11: “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” This verse reminds us that Jesus’ resurrection brings us joy and eternal life with Him in Heaven.

3. Psalm 103:12: “As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.” This verse reminds us that through Jesus’ death and resurrection, our sins are forgiven and we can have a new start in life with Him.

4. Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” This verse reminds us that even when we face death or difficult times, God is always with us and will provide comfort and strength to get through it all.

5. Psalm 34:8: “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” This verse reminds us to trust in God’s goodness and mercy, even when things seem dark or uncertain. He will always provide a way out for those who seek refuge in Him.

Psalms For Holy Week

1. Psalm 22:1-2 – “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest.” This psalm speaks of the loneliness and despair that Jesus felt on the cross as he was abandoned by his Father. It is a reminder of the suffering that Jesus endured for us and how he was willing to take on our sins and die for us.

2. Psalm 51:1-2 – “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.” This psalm speaks of our need for forgiveness and mercy from God. It reminds us that we are all sinners in need of grace and mercy from our Lord.

3. 5. Psalm 46:10 – “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” This psalm encourages us to take time during Holy Week to reflect on who God is and His power over all things—even death itself! It reminds us that even when life seems chaotic or uncertain, He is still sovereign over all things and will ultimately be victorious over evil in this world one day soon!
